A mindless sequel to make more money

Terminate this franchise already! Let Arnie get retired! Terminator is at a point where greedy pricks in film industry milk money out of Arnie and the Terminator title by breeding absolutely generic and idiotic action comedy heaps of garbage. Because yes, there will be more sequels.
Terminator Salvation didn't yet commit most of the sins this movie did: putting the line "I'll be back" in the script in addition to more retarded one liners, having Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor played by models, completely raping the plots of the original Terminator movies, and simply for having Arnie as the dumb entertainer for dumb audiences. Basically someone after Terminator Salvation saw dollars in the franchise and made one of the most irritating movies I've ever seen. I hate this film.
I don't like it when people rate movies 1/10 just to reduce the whole score as much as possible, but I have better reasons to do so. I simply saw nothing good in this corporate heap of special effects and painful one liners (the 80s are over!). I just wanted it to end so I could get the hell out of the theater and away from the people in it. So f**k you if you liked it.

Superb sets, great action if not a bit too long.

This film has everything from sandstorms and lightning to Zombies and evil henchman. Its as though the writer / director said lets throw everything into the story that we can and see what sticks, and then when it came time to edit some of it out, everything cost so much to make that they didn't want to remove it.
This means the film has a running time in excess of two hours and its a lot to digest. There is so much action that we as a viewer get exhausted watching it. The gang of kids we never really get to meet. Only Tom has a purpose, the others I couldn't even tell you their names. I guess they could have been left out the script as none of them were useful. One of them started complaining at the start, suggesting a possible conflict but them he just shut up for the rest of the film.
Then there are all the new cast members who become redundant mere minutes after being introduced. Eventually you start to wonder if some of these people could have been left out the movie to make a much tighter edit.
The sets are however outstanding. The scorched Earth is something I want to see again. You do start wondering though - if all these giant mazes are apparently around the place, with green pastures inside. Why would anyone live in the desert when they can live quite happily inside the maze?
The action is great, most scenes make sense (although there is one jump cut from we have to take cover from the storm to the next morning). There are times when you have to ignore logic like needing food and water, leaving guns behind and stuff like that. But this was an enjoyable film which is very fast paced, if perhaps a little too much of a good thing but still a great film that you need to see on the big screen.

Very involving bit of pure sci-fi

A reclusive CEO of a leading technology company hires a young whiz kid who works for him to test his latest development, a highly advanced android called Ava. Specifically he is tasked with using the Turing test on her to establish if her AI is sufficiently convincing to pass as human.
Despite contributing several scripts for the screen, this is writer Alex Garland's first directorial effort. It's a hard sci-fi movie which examines concepts and ideas above everything else. That's not to say it isn't dramatic or even thrilling because it is both of those things as well but the focus is squarely on the science fiction speculation, and this is a very welcome thing. The central concept that it examines is artificial intelligence. How we interact with AI as humans, as well as how a seductive machine could in turn manipulate us. The very well written script poses philosophical questions such as is there moral or immoral ways to treat AI. It also considers if sometimes part of being human is that we sometimes subconsciously want to be fooled by an illusion, if it is attractive enough.
In many ways Ex Machina resembles last years Under the Skin. Both feature highly advanced female non-humans. In the earlier film Scarlett Johansson played an alien, here Alicia Vikander plays an android. While the very small cast all acquit themselves very well, it is Vikander who stands out in the film's most challenging role. It's a nuanced performance that captures the fine balance between the human-like and machine. Not only this but the marvellous special effects compliment this performance to create a very distinctive character. Aside from the effects, this is probably quite a modestly budgeted film, as the small little-known cast and limited sets suggest. But these restrictions have been used to the films advantage, as the unknown cast surprise more given little is known of them and the restricted setting gives off a claustrophobic feel which works well, while forcing us to focus in even more on the ideas being put in front of us. A scene setting ambient soundtrack additionally creates just the right off-kilter mood to accentuate the events. But it's ultimately the very good writing that underpins the success of this film. All-in-all, very impressive science fiction for those who appreciate the genre's more cerebral side.

Terribly Disappointing

Loved the first Divergent movie. Then read all the books and thought Neil Burger did a great job turning the first book into an accurate and entertaining film. I was so sad to know he was not directing Insurgent. And after seeing Insurgent, that sadness was justified. Robert Schawkle or whatever his name is did an awful job making the 2nd book into a movie. The 2nd book was lamer than the first, but it had a much easier plot to deal with. This movie straye They even had a bigger budget for this film, yet made it shorter in length, cramming scenes in with minimal creativity and almost zero character development. Almost everything that occurs is not true to the narrative in the book. Johanna appears to have no scars on her face and she's fat, wtf. The entire villain of Jeanine is tarnished by a completely different take on her motives. Book readers of this story should not watch the film nor appreciate its utter suckiness. Did the director even glance at the book? Did Veronica Roth really approve this movie? I am appalled?

I'm a bit baffle at some of the reviews that praise this film. Yes, it's better than Jurassic Park 3 and its really dumb fun but some of the praise seem bit robotic, like they are going through talking points given by a press agent. Nostalgic? Because this movie takes place on the same island as the first Jurassic Park? Honestly, this does not look like the same island but whatever. Bring back your childhood? Was your childhood memory of Jurassic Park filled with cardboard cut outs as human characters, sexism, bad acting and an over indulgence of CGI? Seems so. The sequel that Jurassic Park deserves? From what I remember from Steven Spielberg's original Jurassic Park, it had smart characters dealing with a moral dilemma about messing with the natural order of things and dealing with the consequences of their actions. The only sequel in the Jurassic Park series that carried over the themes of the original Jurassic Park was Steven Spielberg's follow up, The Lost World. While The Lost World was not as good as the original Jurassic Park, it still manages to be a strong sequel that at respects and accomplishes what the original sets out to do. Jurassic World only really has dumb characters running away from a monster bend on killing everyone in a amusement park. Again, Jurassic World is for a fact a much better film than the horrendous Jurassic Park 3 but that's because it's dumb fun, not the second coming of the original Jurassic Park.
Chris Pratt is playing his usual roguish frat boy self and it does gives the movie one of it's few likable characters but he can't hold this movie by himself with with bad card board cuts outs as characters, some very bad acting and out of place sexist stereotypes of women. Not to mention a script that is pretty flimsy with pretty bad dialogue. With what was once a science fiction thriller with the first two Jurassic Park films went off the rails with Jurassic Park 3 when it became a sad family film with dinosaurs. Jurassic World tries to bring back the thrills somewhat with some dumb B movie fun with a monster on the loose film but its hurt by the hint of the bad family drama and unlikable characters of Jurassic Park 3 with two boys trying to get their aunts attention. Because of that, none of it works very well off each other and while Chris Pratt is likable hero, he's not given the tools necessary thanks to the bad script and so so directing to hold back the tidal wave of cheese that was thrown on the audience once the film was done.
So yes, it's better than Jurassic Park 3 but no,it's not nostalgic and its not the sequel that Jurassic Park deserves. If this bring you back to your childhood, you really do have issues you need to deal with. In reality, Its a semi decent B movie entry to the series that manages to entertain despite its many problems. If you go in believing the hype from talking points from publicist trying to sell this film to you as the second coming of the original Jurassic Park, you will be very disappointed. Go in with realistic expectations and you will be rewarded.

I am a huge Terminator fan. Terminator 2 is my favorite movie ever, and I find it to be the best movie ever made.
So yeah, this review is biased, but not to an extreme degree.
Terminator Genisys is an excellent movie for Terminator fans. It's for the fans. It's the Terminator sequel we deserve.
I'm one of those who liked Terminator 3, but Genisys is definitely more in tune with Camerons original two.
If you are not a fan, though. First off, why are you not a fan? Either you are too young, or you.. well, what the hell's
wrong with you!? (Kidding...A little bit) Anyway, if you are not a fan this is still an entertaining action movie. It looks
really good, the effects are pretty much top notch, the action is entertaining, the parts that are supposed to be are
exciting, the acting is mostly solid. Some reviews I've seen say it's devoid of humor, but I disagree. There are small
jokes sprinkled pretty evenly around.
But for the fans.. Oh my. This is so in tune with Camerons originals! I think the only one who could have made this any
better is Cameron himself.
Of course, it would have been a much better movie-experience if the trailers hadn't spoiled so much, but whaddayagonnado!?
When there's a trailer for a new Terminator-movie, I'm gonna see that trailer.
But even if the trailers spoiled a lot, I won't.
I will say this though. There are a lot of nods, references, and direct connections to Camerons originals here.
You will recognize plenty of stuff. Some big, some smaller. Sound effects, visual stuff, it is very true to Camerons vision.
Very nice. And the song, oh, just pierces my heart!
I am also happy to say that they have brought back some of the more emotional concepts that we loved from T2, and that was
sorely missing from T3. Not to the same extent as in T2, but still, a lot better than the two previous entries.
Funny thing is that almost none of the main actors are American, haha. Austria, Australia, England, Korea representin'!
Anyhow, the actors are all good. I'm not super loving Jay Courtney, but he did alright. Emilia, Jason, Byung-hun - all real
good. Seeing Arnold again, damn! He is just great. Just seeing his name at the beginning, I almost teared up!
The fact that it's PG13 didn't bother me much either. Yeah the blood was awesome in T2, but it's alright that we don't get
it here. As for the nudity, it wouldn't have hurt us, but hey, partial nudity is alright too. Anyway the rating doesn't take
anything away, there's still plenty of violence.
It is just fantastic to see Terminator-stuff made with 2015-technology. Those endoskeletons.. Awesome! And a certain scene
partially lifted from a certain movie, damn! So cool to see.
I haven't got much bad to say, some of the dialogue and one-liners could have been a tad better, a couple of the jokes are
a little overused, but it's mostly nitpicking I think.
Also, yes, there are plot holes, but what do you expect? The whole premise of Terminator is impossible anyway.
I can honestly say, as a life long (I saw T2 the first time when I was really little) Terminator-fan,
I enjoyed the hell out of this. Already looking forward to seeing it again. It was at times perfect. Very entertaining.
Now go see it people, so it makes good in them boxoffices. I want more of these!

Fantastic Flop

Over the last decade, we have seen a number of superhero movies get a much needed reboot.
After the atrocious Batman & Robin, Batman was brilliantly brought back to the big screen in Batman Begins.
When the Spider-Man franchise hit an embarrassing rock bottom with Spider-Man 3, it was reinvigorated with
the very likable The Amazing Spider-Man.
Eight years on from the dud that was Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and it's time that Marvel's first
family got a reboot. With a lot of rumours flying around about trouble on set and the studio not seeming to have
total confidence in their product, could 2015's Fantastic Four do these iconic comic-book characters justice?
Reed Richards (Miles Teller) is a brilliant young scientist on the verge of discovering how to both transport matter
to another dimension and bring it back. Recruited by Professor Franklin Storm (Reg E. Cathey), Reed is given the resources
and help, in the form of Sue Storm (Kate Mara), Victor Von Doom (Toby Kebbell) and Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan),
to to finish what he started in his younger years.
When they finally crack inter-dimensional travel, Reed invites his childhood friend Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell) to travel to
another world along with him and his team. An accident causes their physical form to drastically change. Reed, Sue, Johnny
and Ben must learn to harness their powers and work as a team to stop Victor, who is hell bent on destroying Earth.
The one thing that stood out to me about Fantastic Four is just how unbelievably dull it is. For characters who have such
a rich and colourful history in the comics, this really is a pretty drab affair. The film only has a 100 minute runtime
however, it feels much longer, dragging its feet and feeling very tired right from the very start.
When a superhero movie gets less exciting after they get their powers, something is very very wrong.
I had some hope for this film and one of the main reason was down to the fact that Josh Trank was sat in the director's
chair. Trank hit the big time with Chronicle, a film that combined the superhero genre with found footage. I can't express
just how disappointed I am with Trank because everything about Fantastic Four is just so sloppy.
The story is weak, the script is cringeworthy and the special effects are average at best. It all culminates in one of the
most boring finales you will ever witness in a superhero movie. Compared to what else you see happen in other superhero
movies these days, it all looks and feels amateur.
Then there are the performances. Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell and Toby Kebbell are all young
actors who have the world at their feet. They have each impressed in their own way prior to Fantastic Four but every single
one of them has the range of the cast in Tim Story's Fantastic Four films and waste their talents in Trank's reboot.
Fantastic Four is a film very much out of time and place in today's market of superhero movies. Ten or fifteen years ago
a studio might have been able to get away with it but not today. Audiences like to be entertained and with the competition
offering much more excitement, I don't see audiences taking to this, at all.

Sandlar has proved himself again and it's magnificent! The majority of the negative reviews (from what I read) don't appreciate or like any of his movies. Why go if you are just gonna hate it? He still adds his classic jokes so I would recommend this movie if he makes you laugh. I grew up on those arcade games as a child and I loved how he portrayed it. My friend who hasn't liked any of his movies since "Don't Mess with the Zohan" loved this movie and I dragged him to it.

The concept that a man could shrink yet have the power of a big man was good but the movie was mediocre. The plot that was given to it was too childish. Action scenes were also average, could have been a lot better if some of the epic kind of scenes would have been shot in slow motion. The scenes when ant-man shrink/grow were good but could have been better. The humor atmosphere was maintained through out the movie no matter how much serious the problem was, which resulted in lack of intense emotional scenes. Background music was not catchy. The only thing that wasn't average was the visual effects, It is not worthy to be seen in theater. Trailer was far better than movie. It's only a matter of time unless you realize that movie was not that good as you were thinking it was.

Terminator Salvation didn't yet commit most of the sins this movie did: putting the line "I'll be back" in the script in addition to more retarded one liners, having Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor played by models, completely raping the plots of the original Terminator movies, and simply for having Arnie as the dumb entertainer for dumb audiences. Basically someone after Terminator Salvation saw dollars in the franchise and made one of the most irritating movies I've ever seen. I hate this film.
I don't like it when people rate movies 1/10 just to reduce the whole score as much as possible, but I have better reasons to do so. I simply saw nothing good in this corporate heap of special effects and painful one liners (the 80s are over!). I just wanted it to end so I could get the hell out of the theater and away from the people in it. So f**k you if you liked it.
